Review of True Lies (1994) by Brett R — 01 Sep 2009
There are 2 types of spy moveis imho: Type 1 is slap-stick, a spoofing of the culture surrounding the nature of secret agents. Type 2 is authentic, a supposed recreation of the alledged activities of said "agents".
This film is of the latter type, and although few films of either type are very good, this one is a veritable masterpiece. Thoroughly believable, well-acted, action-packed, and tinged with a suprising amount of umor (that actually works!), you will cherish this film.
I can confidently say this film belongs in the movie library of *everyone*.
