Review of True Lies (1994) by Bradley W — 11 Apr 2012
True Lies is an action comedy that actually works well considering it was made by James Cameron. Don't get me wrong he is a genius filmmaker but I have never seen him do something with comedy, and I was pleasantly surprised how well it was and how funny this is.
The plot looked at first like it was going to be a complicated but it turned out to be very simple and easy for most audiences to understand, which I liked because I just wanted simple fun. But these characters were very boring and unlikable and I think if Cameron had done it right he could have made Schwarzanegger an actually interesting character.
Arnold Shwarzenegger is likable and he makes his boring character at least at least have a little humanity. Jamie Lee Curtis was great, she was funny, quirky, and she overall impressed the big screen once again.
The action and special effects are incredibly cool and unrealistic (I mean "unrealistic" in a good way) but this is no surprise to a genius like James Cameron. True Lies is not his best work to date, but its another example of his genius and perfection with special effects, a very good and well done film.
