Review of True Grit (2010) by Mike M — 04 Sep 2012
The Coen Brothers' True Grit is a queer mix of old-fashioned western and over-the-top dinner theatre. A strange, surreal landscape of dirt, dust, whiskey and grammatically-perfect dialogue - with Steinfeld a true standout as 14-year-old Maddie Ross (with Bridges strong in the lead role).
Quirky, as to be expected with the Coens, but less enjoyable than others in their cannon.
