Review of True Confessions (1981) by Arnaud V — 11 May 2008
The story is based on the murder of the Black Dahlia. It is, so far, the best adaptation of this story ever made. De Niro plays Monsignor Spellacy, a young and ambitious clergyman. Duvall plays his brother, a bitter policeman who tries to solve the mistery murder.
A very melancholic and desolate film, as both men are more and more entangled in the mistery that slowly unfolds, provoking clashes between them. Great cast, great athmosphere. Must see.
