Review of Troy (2004) by Dante V — 19 Jan 2013
An intelligent, entertaining spectacle which is worth watching more than once. Troy has some of the best battle scenes which rival other outstanding epics such as Gladiator. The cast is amazing with tremendous performances by Brad Pitt, Orlando Bloom, and above all Eric Bana.
Visually, the film was very aesthetically pleasing with beautiful landscapes, costumes and set designs. I also need to mention that I was very impressed with this film's portrayal of the Trojan horse as a structure built in haste with scrap wood from shipwrecks rather than a beautiful, carefully constructed weapon of war as it has been formerly depicted. Petersen's vision of the horse is the most plausible and realistic one to date.
