Troy is an epic movie based on Homer's Iliad.

It is the year 1250 B.C. during the late Bronze age. Two emerging nations begin to clash after Paris, the Trojan prince, convinces Helen, Queen of Sparta, to leave her husband, Menelaus, and sail with him back to Troy. After Menelaus finds out that his wife was taken by the Trojans, he asks his brother Agamemnon to help him get her back. Agamemnon sees this as an opportunity for power. So they set off with 1,000 ships holding 50,000 Greeks to Troy. With the help of Achilles, the Greeks are able to fight the never before defeated Trojans. But they come to a stop by Hector, Prince of Troy. The whole movie shows their battle struggles and the foreshadowing of fate in this remake by Wolfgang Petersen of Homer's "The Iliad.".

Greek Mythology is one of the coolest things to learn about. Some of it talks about battles, romance and sacrifice. Since Troy is based off of a book, the movie features all of these things. Unlike most movies based off of books, some of them leave little chunks out while this one mentions every single detail that occurs. So how is the movie? The answer to that question is the movie is truly an epic phenomenon. The battles are intense, the acting is great, the concept is amazing and the pacing is on track and doesn't let up at all knowing the movie is just under 3 hours long. The characters which include Achilles, Hector or Paris all have unique behaviors that make the role the play whole.

The cast is very well picked. Brad Pitt really nails it as Achilles. Eric Bana really impressed me. He got my attention through the entire movie. Orlando Bloom usually never lets me down and he's really good in this. From the rest of the cast, they all were wonderful. Director Wolfgang Peterson can make a film in the correct order.

No one can complain about this movie. The directing is awesome, the camera work is spot on and everything else about this movie was magnificent. Is this a great movie? 100% yes. Is Brad Pitt good at playing Achilles? More then good.
