Review of Troy (2004) by Joan Pau R — 05 Jul 2013
This is a pretty bad movie depiction of HOMER's "The Iliad" tale. Over budgeted and over hyped drivel. What was the director & producer, Wolfgang, thinking when he was working on this film? The directing is all over the place.
It is horrendously casted, sound effects were poorly done, special effects were rustic & oddly placed. There was an incredible amount of work done on this film but it is so obviously over rehearsed that every scene is played out in stages.
There is definitely an attempt to portray this train wreck in a big budget classic hollywood similar to Cleopatra. The script is badly written that nothing flows naturally. Such a shame to have so many interesting characters gather on screen for an epic & tragic battle and we get piecemeal of tidbits following a half naked Brad Pitt thru out the entire film? I mean.
.. the title was TROY, was it not? Sometimes Big, Bigger, Biggest is not the best strategy when you completely miss the mark. The costumes were nice and had some nice stunts with some really well known actors everything else was fluff.
