Review of Troy (2004) by Robin A — 21 Oct 2013
A great movie! Now it's definite, the troy movies are one of my favorites! The both of them are awesome and the both have their best moments. The big scenes in this movie according to me was absolutely Hector's death. He was the last one I wanted to be dead! He was so wise, strong, good willing and pretty much a worrier and a big hero! The moment he saved his brother when his brother crawled in front of him begging for his life, it was such a great scene since he didn't abandon his own brother. When he died I seriously went mad. And the one thing I hated the most in the movie was how Achilles dragged Hector's dead body around! WHY?! When I finally loved Achilles in this movie he made such a move and I despised it!
Achilles, now this was the Achilles I thought about when I read about him, not the one in Helene of Troy! This one was a fighter, good man and great! Actually his love with Hector's cousin was far better love story than Helene's and Paris love story for sure! This was real love that you could really believe in. He loved her, saved her several times but at the same time it was realistic, like she couldn't stop him from killing Hector. This movie wasn't much about Helene and Paris actually, not like the other movie.
Paris? I didn't really like him to be honest. He was stupid and burned down his entire country and killed his brother and father just for the sake of Helene and in the end he is telling her that she can leave without him. That they might meet in the next life! REALLY?! Why couldn't you say that before the entire war began?! Why didn't he do as Achilles?! Letting his love free even though he loved her and then when she needed help he was there to save her!
And the one time Paris actually killed someone, he kills Achilles.... REALLY?! Why of all the people you kill Achilles when he just saved your cousin?! Stupid shit!
I really loved Achilles in this movie. The scene with Hector's father were Hector's father begged for mercy made a big impression! Specially when Achilles gets out and starts to cry over Hector's body even though it was him who killed Hector. It was such a tremendous scene! I just adored it! The scene when Achilles fell on his knees and told his lover that she gave him peace in the middle of the was was really touching and I really loved that scene! Totally amazing movie! Love the both of the movies, I don't know which one more, both of them are very different from each other even though the both are about the same thing. What I loved about the other movie was how the made the king-brothers. How the brother did everything for the crown, even killed his own daughter, and took the Helene from his own brother and the anger of his wife about her daughter. I loved the ending how everything was torn apart and Helene followed the one who loved her from the start without any promises.
In this movie I loved Achilles story, his love story, his path, his good willing but still strong heart and I definitely loved, adored Hector's roll in this movie, totally amazing! Loved it in the other one as well but this one.... I just didn't want to believe that he got killed!
