Review of Tron (1982) by Steven A — 07 Jul 2011
This movie made me wish I was high. It was already unintentionally hilarious, and the trippy visual effects combined with that would make a great stoner movie; too bad I'm not a stoner.
I was actually embarrassed for The Dude, David Warner, and especially Barnard Hughes for their spandex costumes (poor Hughes: he looked like a Styrofoam, penis-headed Sphinx)--Bruce Boxleitner actually pulls it off. Lacey Underall from "Cadddyshack" is the boring, nerdy love interest.
The fact that they made a sequel to this ridiculous movie just goes to show how childhood love for a movie is powerful and blinding, because there had to be some guy in Hollywood who was all, "I love Tron! Let's make a new one, with 2010 technology!".
