Review of Tron (1982) by Corey W — 28 Jan 2012
Tron was way before its time. About 20 years too early to be exact. People didn't know what to do with it then. Watching it now, it is unfortunately dated by the visual technology of the time it was made.
The static shots limited, shallow CG and other technical limitations, coupled with a simplistic story that is an obvious product of the 80's, might not satisfy modern day viewers raised on the slick techniques refined in the decades in between.
Yet this is still an important step in the evolution of modern day special effect technology and still has some great scenes, interesting visuals and a cool concept. For film lovers and film historians, it is still entertaining.
