Review of Trolls (2016) by Spencer K — 03 Dec 2016
"No troll left behind!".
I had literally no expectations nor hope for the Trolls movie, but when I saw the good reviews coming out for it, I was 1.Shocked and 2.Interested. So I saw it, and I walked out of the theater very pleasantly surprised. While it's in no way the next best animated film, it's a vibrant, energetic, full of pure candy colored visual happiness. Imagine a 6 year old child on the most insane sugar rush of their life and then they drink a Monster energy drink. It never stops, but it wholly entertains throughout its 90 minute runtime. The voice cast most definitely helps this movie. Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake provide their voices to our two lead character and they work extremely well together. It's essentially an animated visual album for the two, but they sure work well together. Their singing voices and their charming charisma work exceptionally well as they play off one of another. It relentlessly entertaining, often very funny and it contains one of the most heart wrenching scenes I've seen in a film in quite some time. The soundtrack is energetic and catchy and the voice actors add to the charm of the film. Kids will love it and parents won't hate themselves after it. Worth a watch.
