Review of Troll 2 (1990) by Frederic C — 19 Aug 2010

Troll 2 was a funny movie! I laughed so hard I almost busted my gut! Such a horribly awesome movie! The only reason I'm giving this a 20% is the fact that it made me laugh throughout the entire movie.

So let's break this movie down.

Acting: Terrible. I've seen better acting in high-school made YouTube videos. The acting is so dull and dry, it sounds like they were reading their lines off of a teleprompter. And the cast's facial expressions are priceless. Also, the mother had such large eyes it was hard to pay attention to anything else but her eyes!

Effects: Horrendous. Really? Come on, guys! The visuals were god-awful! It looks like their effects budget was given to them in pennies and nickels and green food coloring. Also, was there enough bubbling vials and cups in there for them. Geez!

Camerawork: Painful. The camera angles were not well picked. Did they have a goblin as their director of photography? There is no excuse in the film world to have such bad camerawork!

Script: Cringeworthy. Was Drake Floyd 9 years old when he wrote this script?! Because the dialogue seems to point somewhere in that direction and there's an awful lot of hating on vegetables in the plotline! The entire story seems like a fanciful tale told by an 8 year old who is trying to get out of eating his vegetables! Bingo! I caught you red handed Drake! But seriously, no one in the business of writing scripts should write a script that bad. Worst line in the movie: "Well, actually, I really like popcorn!" Best line in the movie: "Have you been smoking dope again, Holly?".

Overall: Either one of the worst, or most clever movies ever made, I'm not sure. I'm almost leaning on calling it ingenious, as no one could create something so horrible on purpose, but you never know. All in all, worth seeing at least once for the laughs, but I did find myself wondering throughout most of the movie "Why am I watching this again?" Yeah, it's as bad as you've heard, and then some! Watch it!
