Review of Troll (1986) by Najd G — 05 Nov 2017
I know that Troll 2 technically isn't a sequel to this movie, but I'm still concerned with how many people pretend that the first Troll doesn't exist. I'd have watched the unrelated Troll 2 first but, in-name-only or direct, I still consider it a sequel nonetheless.
This movie is incredibly cheesy and rather bland, but I think that was the point since it was a B-movie. The special effects are rather outdated but it still has its charm. In fact, the animatronics actually don't look half bad.
But, I felt a sense of boredom and didn't find myself rooting for our protagonist, I guess, Harry Potte- wait, WHAT? I find it extremely doubtful that J.K. Rowling took her inspiration from this movie.
She likely never even heard of it. Since the Internet wasn't a big thing back then, I don't think she'd have easily heard of the "Oh my Goooooood" meme. The dialogue can be terrible sometimes, as well.
Troll is far from good but I still think that, in it's own way, it's worth checking out. And, for the last time, yes, I know Troll 2 isn't an official sequel to Troll and was only called that to trick people into seeing it but I still believe that even it it's just in the title, it's still a sequel.
Just goes to show, that certain people see the world differently from others.
