Review of Trick 'r Treat (2007) by Scott J — 10 Dec 2012
I found th stories to be quite enjoyable, especially the way they intertwined and came about full circle. However, I just wish that SOMEBODY would make a good suspenseful scary movie without all the gore.
What happened to the movies that could scare the crap out of you with suspense without feeling the need to visually gross the audience out?! This movie could have EASILY been made PG-13, reached a larger target audience and not have been ANY less scary.
The little creepy Halloween rules enforcer, Sam, was great, especially that we see he is full of pumpkin seeds and pulp. And I loved the little nuances with the girls' characters that reveal their true Halloween objective.
I applaud the overall story, but the movie could have been better in my opinion if the gore could have been toned down and it been geared towards a broader audience. It would have done better at the box office too.
Btw, when did Halloween become ALL about Gorey Slasher movies. IMO, SUSPENSE is better. Less is more!
