Review of Trick 'r Treat (2007) by Jackson W — 24 Oct 2013
I have to admit, Trick r Treat is a very inspired Halloween movie for what it is. It's amount of scary themed stories are really worth looking at if you like that sort of thing, and it's told at a good pace.
Rather than have the predictable "everyone dies off" route a lot of these movies take, everyone just inhales their own experience and gets sucked into the drama. I guess the only problem I really have with the flick is the lack of depth on behalf of the pumpkin head kid.
While he's a great as I like to call "overseer" villain that watches and causes the evil around him, no one knows who he is or where he came from. The movie did all the other stories real well, especially the School Bus Massacre scene, but they underwhelmed this character's development.
I also didn't get how the story was told out of order, how we kept seeing "earlier" and "later" throughout, but it's horror film logic. Not much to argue with as far as this flick goes.
