Some very interesting ideas in many areas for this film. Anna Paquin was a very good choice of casting, and the central villain was a very nostalgic nod, not just to Halloween but also to films like Don't Look Now.

There were however a few self-reflexive moments that felt a bit derivative though, and the humor didn't always come across quite as funny was planned. However, Trick r' Treat does attempt to bring the classic Horror anthology into the 21 Century and for that it deserves kudos.
