Review of Tremors II: Aftershocks (1996) by Christopher H — 18 Jun 2011
When the first film was seemingly faultless, how do you improve upon it? Answer: you don't. This is exactly what was wrong with this, it tried to alter all the things that were good about the first film in an attempt to increase the quality, but ultimately failed considerably.
There were more monsters and more action, but less realism and less suspense. The fact that they spent all the film chasing four underground beasts last time proved that they were dealing with a tough predator.
This time, they went around blowing up the creatures in their numbers, completely wiping away their status as an inpenetrable enemy. It focused more on the comedy side this time, despite the fact that I don't think it could be considered funny, and the new species of creature it tried to introduce midway through the film had by no means the same impact that it's prequel had.
A watchable film, but to think there have been two more of these film made too...........?!!! Hmmmm.
