This movie is awesome. I'm rolling my eyes at posters below who call the effects "cheesy" or "dated." Oh well, it's not really their fault. They've been trained to think that way.
The truth is, the effects here are surprisingly state-of-the art. The worms look convincingly real. You think they look "dated" because they are not animated with a computer...They exist in real space, with the actors! You've become so accustomed to things looking all cartoony that you can't appreciate good effects when you see them.
