Review of Treasure Planet (2002) by Jens S — 19 Jul 2009
This Disney adventure takes Stevenson's classic tale of Treasure island, keeps the 18th century look but carries it into space, with starships and aliens, which is quite a brilliant idea, to be honest.
Of course only the basics of the plot remain the same, but kudos to the movie for keeping such a grey and ambiguous character like Silver pretty intact. While the film may not be suitable for the smallest of the Disney fans, due to lots of action, even a few deaths and threatening aliens, the humor and easily predictable plot does not have a lot to offer for adults either.
That being said, the right audience should have a blast with this half animated half computer generated adventure, especially the showdown is pretty damn exciting.
