Review of Treasure Planet (2002) by Daniel P — 22 Aug 2010

There's a very good reason I love this movie. Honestly, this is my favorite Disney movie, even though it's not a Pixar classic. It's Robert Louis Stevenson's classic Treasure Island set in space.

Very simple to do and still have plenty of room to explore. The voice acting is up to par with any other animated movie so now complaints on the acting side. There's a double take on the animation because they use regular cartoon animation as well as 3D modeling.

All of the effects aside what we love about this movie is the size of the plot. This movie goes big on the space is an ocean metaphor and it translates perfectly. We don't bother doubting anything here, because it's all been thought of.

Flying whales? Check. Flying ships? Check. Alien thug crew members? Check. Not to mention the plot has some basic plot points that I can't help but admire. Treasure Planet is a win in my book. Watch this with the family, I have a feeling you may get inspired.
