Are we ready to raise this creaky tub?

A teen that is a threat to be sent to juvenile hall becomes a cabin boy in hopes of making his mother proud. While on the ship, a portion of the crew mutinies in hopes of stealing the treasure from a nearby planet. Can the cabin boy work with the captain to get the ship back and save the remainder of the crew?

"I think he suffered from mood swings but I'm not a therapist.".

Ron Clements and John Musker, who collaborated to deliver The Great Mouse Detective, Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Hercules, and The Princess and the Frog, delivers Treasure Planet. The storyline for this picture is wonderfully interesting and an intergalactic version of Treasure Island. The animation style is wonderful and depicts the characters perfectly. The voices are very well selected and include Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Martin Short, Emma Thompson, and Dane Davis.

"Maybe your ears don't work so well.".

"Too bad my nose works just fine.".

I watched this with my daughter off Netflix because we had never seen it. I can tell you the animation grabbed my attention right away. The way the aliens were depicted was absolutely splendid and way beyond my expectations. I can tell you this isn't a perfect Disney animated classic but it is worth watching and potentially adding to your DVD collection based on the amazing animation.

"He rigged the whole planet to blow!".

Grade: B+/A- (8.25).
