Review of Treasure Planet (2002) by Nate A — 17 Mar 2008
Fun reenvisioning of the Stevenson classic. Some changes work, some don't, but overall it's a not a bad movie. Certainly made me yearn for the 2D animation that Disney seems to have abandoned.
The father-son relationship between Jim and Silver makes for more compelling drama, but I'm not sure I bought it some of the time.
On a sidenote, it is nice to see animation being voiced by professionally trained voice actors for the most part, instead of big name actors who have no idea how to handle acting within animation.
Oh, and the Johnny Reznik songs are absolutely terrible.
