Review of Transporter 2 (2005) by Kevin P — 11 May 2009
Transporter 2 (2005).
Mysterious driver, Frank Martin (Jason Statham) returns with this sequel to Transporter. This time he's in Miami, Florida chauffeuring around Senator Jefferson Billings (Matthew Modine) and his family around. He picks up young Jack Billings (Hunter Clary) from school and brings him home only to find Jefferson and Audrey Billings (Amber Valletta) fighting outside the front door.
Audrey and her husband are having marital problems and Frank tries hard to stay out of it, but he can't help liking her. He's unaware of sinister forces watching them. Gianni Chellini (Alessandro Gassman) is trying to kidnap and inject a virus into young Jack and infect the senator and his special committee to stamp out a drug cartel.
Naturally, Frank gets involved and becomes the prime suspect. Frank has got to rescue Jack and get the antidote to the virus while the cops are after him. His old friend from France, Inspector Tarconi (Francois Berléand) shows up for a visit but spends most of his vacation under arrest and sneaking onto police computers to help Frank.
The movie is filled with unbelievable car chases and fight choreography, as well as a fight sequence in an unmanned, crashing personal jet. As long as you hold back your disbelief, you'll enjoy this decent actioner.
