Review of Transporter 2 (2005) by David K — 13 Jun 2009
I'll be honest, I had no hopes for "Transporter 2" to be any good whatsoever after the average first installment. Needless to say, this film was worse than expected.
Let's start with the story. A politician's son is kidnapped and injected with a deadly virus that will infect anyone that comes in contact with him. The kidnapper is an "evil" version of Jason Statham's character. The Transporter had been hired to drive this little boy around for a month and therefore his connection to the plot. Sounds pretty weak. Other than that, there's action. And in all actuality, that's all there is.
The action in the film is a joke. Within the first 20 minutes, Statham uses a wooden door to block bullets from hitting him. The believability of each action scene following this one only gets worse. They're stupid. I said the word "No" so often in this film that by the time a plane crashes into water and The Transporter lives, I couldn't help but laugh.
This movie is bad. It's an obvious cash-in on an average action movie and it was really unsatisfying. The story is dumb. The characters are one dimensional. The action is lame. "Transporter 2" should be avoided at all costs.
