Review of Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011) by Victor T — 12 Jul 2014
After an abysmal second chapter of the Transformer franchise, this third installment had very low expectation but at the same time it looks more interesting. Let's see if it is actually an improvement or a continuation of the quality of the last film.
In the 60's, a transformer ship crashes on the moon, this is the supposedly the real reason that allow Apollo 11 to happen. On present times, the autobots continue to help the USA's government and in one job, the autobots find out that humans are hiding some knowledge about the ship.
With this being the third chapter of this franchise, there is really not much to tell if you know the other two. First of all, I want to thank this film for getting rid of Megan Fox and those two annoying racist autobots. Combining elements of the first film with the scale of the second, this third installment doesn't follow the stupidity of the last film, for the most of it. The improvements are more than obvious: A less ridiculous story, better action scenes, Rosie Huntington Whiteley is a better actress than Megan Fox, the "comedy" is now reduce into just one scene and I really appreciate the idea of giving the decepticons a human ally to match Sam.
This trilogy ends on a better note than Revenge of the Fallen but still is what the whole franchise is known for: a mindless action film with a really bad story. If you enjoy the any of the last two, you will definitely like this one.
