Review of Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014) by Maryse L — 29 Apr 2016
Was one of the honoured few that saw the movie at the world premiere as part of the media. A few things I disliked about the movie, is firstly, how Michael Bay sexualises the lead actresses in the Transformers franchise. Is it even necessary to do so? Next, the movie was a tad bit too long. Just when you think it was ending after 48379561 minutes of countless action in the movie, something else happens again. I'm just grateful I survived the movie. And one more complaint, probably more relevant for the Asian audiences in this case. Han Geng, supposedly publicised throughout Asia like as though he played a major part in the movie, even walked the red carpet at the WORLD PREMIERE, only appeared for less than 4 seconds in the movie. Seriously!?
Aside to these complaints, there are many great things to the movie - I loved the dinobots present in the movie, Mark Wahlberg as the lead (better than Shia LaBeouf), the intensity, action sequences (could barely catch my breath as I was watching) as well as the Hong Kong skyline showcased in there. Would definitely catch the next Transformers movie!
