Review of Transcendence (2014) by Jamie A — 07 Oct 2014
I originally wasn't going to see this because of all the bad ratings, but a free rental got me to try it out and I was glad I did. The movie is deep and thought provoking. It's not an action movie; it's a mental one similar to movies like Inseption. I think a lot of the ratings have less to do with the movie itself and more to do with our culture and what we expect from a movie. All and all, I recommend it.
As for those who disliked it based on the main actor's performance, remember that all of his speech patterns and facial movements are taken from recording a dying man. The range of the computer version is limited to the remixing of that original set. He does progress as time goes on, but is still somewhat limited.
