Review of Transcendence (2014) by Tamie S — 17 Jun 2015
It boast ideas that Christopher Nolan, Wally's longtime collaborator as a director of photography, but the movie is a mess. The cinematography and visual effects are great because of Wally's eye for cinematography and can translate vision well but he needs to work on directing performances and overall story.
For it's Scifi Thriller genre title, it's dull and boring and even though it is 2 hours it just seems to go on and on forever. Johnny Depp is one of my favorite actors but he was really bland in this and seemed just as confused as everyone else making this movie on what was going on.
The ideas of the film just seem so preachy and overdone now that the original spark it is trying to have just fizzles in been there, done that territory.
