Review of Trance (2013) by Mina E — 18 Jul 2013
Oh dear, finally something got through me and it broke me. I always liked thrillers due to its nature of interesting twists and noir plots. I can always break them and dismantle each plots. But Trance?, just threw me off and tore me into a pieces. That same feeling from memento but felt even better.
Thought it was a rip-off. Inception stole the Matrix and now this. Add a twist from the Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. And Voila! Boyle's Trance! However I said this to myself at the middle of the film.
Afterwards, everything starts to faster. At the end of it. It's was a big blur. Man, it used the same connection as Memento?. The audience actually feels the condition or gist of the movie. Unlike Memento, this movie produces a lot of questions. I hated it yet I loved it. Felt like I was quoting Simon. But indeed, the effects are inevitable.
Tried to research all about it but it was no help at all. To my conclusion. It was really written that way. Joe Ahearne is one nasty writer. A lot of probable motives and explanations that we try to fill ourselves.
Just disregard the rip-offs of the movies dealt with dreams, everyone does it, and to your delight, it created one heck of hyrbid film, trance. Boyle sure knows how to pick a good script for a wicked movie.
