Review of Traitor (1971) by Paul P — 17 Dec 2011
A very solid flm that decides to take a lower key approach to exploring terrorism and what drives people to do what they do. As intrigiung as it is, the sense of danger / threat that was probably needed to make this a genuinely grippiing thriller is not present. For what it is though, its good stuff...
I had 2 reasons for watching this film.... Don and Guy. They are both terrific actors and they do not disappoint. Guy has a noticebly smaller role to play here and to be honest he doesn't have a great deal to work with but he is on good form. This is Don's film though, no doubt about it. His motivations become clearer as the film progresses and he keeps the film anchored and on track throughout. Excellent stuff....
At the end of the day though, this could have been a more involving film had the threat been portrayed more effectively.
