Review of Mary Poppins Returns (2018) by Paul P — 29 Dec 2018
Mary Poppins Returns is a modernized, over-stuffed film that nearly captured the magic of the original. But buried the joy excessive production numbers and and overly-long, mostly forgettable songs.
I was on board from the beginning, Emily blunt is an amazing choice for Mary, she captured so much of what made Julie Andrews' original an icon. Lin-Manual Meranda's turn as Jack was enjoyable, but his Cockney accent was only slightly less jarring than Dick Van Dyke's.
Although not a bad movie, was a bit of a letdown.
