Review of Trainspotting (1996) by Adam K — 23 Jul 2012
Danny Boyle's masterpiece about heroin addiction is a terrifying portrayal, yet often times humorous thanks to its splendid writing and one of a kind characters. It tells the story of a group of Edinburgh friends and their constant battle with being on and off of heroin.
Its fast-paced storytelling and eerie consequences to the characters' actions make it one of the most unique films to portray the horrors of addiction. Its soundtrack is flawless, with every piece of music fitting perfectly into its scene like a complete puzzle.
Boyle's direction is nothing short of masterful. Over time it has become a classic staple of modern UK cinema and that is exactly where it needs and deserves to be.
