Review of Trainspotting (1996) by Duncan K — 19 Mar 2014
A truly spectacular film with such fleshed-out characters and storytelling, while managing to be equal parts hilarious, brutal, horrific, and disgusting in a way the truly captures an era on screen. This film is better than most films about addiction and poverty because rather than trying to prove a point it just portrays things honestly and I would go so far as to call it a masterpiece and one of the greatest films I have ever seen.
Despite McGregor's character saying "It's shite being Scottish," I have to agree with McKidd's character in that it does "make one proud to be Scottish.".
