Review of Train to Busan (2016) by Monika S — 12 Aug 2016
This film. Just, wow. Has just surpassed 28 Days Later as the best zombie film ever in my estimation. In today's Michael Bay-esque action spectacle saturated world it is hard to find a movie that truly awes you.
Even harder to find one with a gripping narrative, tight characterisation and heart. This movie brings it all.The hallmark Korean tonal shifts from tragic to thrilling to hilarious work brilliantly. We were jumping out of our seats one minute and laughing out loud the next.
Also the dominating theme - looking out for those more vulnerable than you even when you are scared and want to just look out for you and your own - is very timely in an age of refugee crises and terrorism.
Deserves the 96% rating.
