Review of Trading Places (1983) by Samson S — 29 Feb 2012
This is no doubt a funny movie, but it's also very dumb. I mean, really lowest common denomonator sometimes. I also found the premise to be very awkward and all I kept thinking was "No. People don't do that.
That's not very funny..." It goes from really silly to pretty dark, back to silly, then to just plain studpid. Eddit Murphey, Dan Aykroyd, and Jamie Lee Curtis are excellent in it, but their characters were badly written.
Don't get me wrong, I laughed a lot. But I was expecting a bit better.
