Review of Toys (1992) by Robert I — 10 Jan 2013
The Avatar of the 90s. Visually stunning. One of the stupidest stories of all time. Sanctimonious & self-congratulatory. Really, very creepy. I cannot overstate the greatness of the visuals, which makes this all the more tragic. Typically hypocritical. And Williams' improv is half the reason the movie is ruined.
Despite the fact that he's a blasphemous, irresponsible, foul-mouthed, pervert who wants to get into Robin Wright's drawers, he's supposed to be the paragon of innocence & peace. Insultingly stupid. Idiotic pacifistic propaganda piece for children. A kids movie where women remove their bras. Yes, making this PG-13 is how to widen its appeal. How about a story instead?
