Review of Toys (1966) by Corey W — 05 Aug 2011
Too long, as the plot is stretched out to fit the running time and there are some moments in the film which feel like filler. The narrative becomes patchy and confused at times; at others the film's moral message feels laid on and somewhat schmaltzy.
That said there are great performances from all involved, and the vast majority of the jokes and comedy set pieces throughout are successful and clever. The film is a visual treat as well. Ultimately, this is flawed but enjoyable.
