Review of Toy Story 4 (2019) by Jluis_001 — 01 Jul 2019
Nine years ago, Pixar achieved something that seemed impossible and they gave an excellent ending to the story that put them on the map.
When they announced Toy Story 4 I wasn't excited at all. Even with the all love I have for the characters, I was 100% convinced that their cycle was over.
They were still united and would start again so what was the need for a new story?
After watching Toy Story 4 my fears were confirmed and Pixar managed to undo their grand finale and despite the good thematic and its emotional ending, Toy Story 4 falls short to its predecessors and that emotional ending manages to disrupt the union of the characters, maybe forever, and that before my eyes is unforgivable.
No doubt Toy Story 4 is about moving forward and growing and it express it in a more direct way than the third film because now those emotions are for Woody and not for Andy and yet I cannot stop thinking that Pixar went to a place that shouldn't have gone with these characters.
This is still Toy Story - although the show now belonged completely to Woody - And the quality is still there, that is undeniable. The jump in the animation is simply breathtaking but Toy Story 4 is a very good sequel that should never have existed in the first place.
