Review of Toy Story 3 (2010) by James S — 30 May 2015
This installment of the Toy Story franchise focuses most on what happens when children grow up. It is sadder than its predecessors, but still delivers on the comedy for which the franchise is known.
The toys haven't been played with in years, and Andy is getting ready to move out of the house. They soon find themselves in a new environment, and Woody in particular is torn between the toys' desire to be played with and his devotion to Andy. Along the way, they meet new toys who have similar experiences.
Thankfully, there is still a healthy dose of physical and verbal humour. Woody and Buzz still play off each other well, and the supporting characters are really used well here. All the new toys pull their weight, both comedically and emotionally.
The story is really heartwrenching, in particular the film's ending. It is a fantastic way to close off the series.
