Review of Towelhead (2008) by Rene R — 10 Jan 2009
This coming of age story is raw, dark, sometimes funny, and sometimes disturbing yet wholly real. While some scenes are excruciatingly difficult to watch this film touches on a variety of issues that as a society we find difficult talking about - Racism, bigotry and sex.
Towelhead is a fascinating film to watch and carries the tone of one of Alan Ball's previous films - American Beauty. I highly recommend this one - but be warned, there are several scenes and situations that are somewhat uncomfortable -- but than again - maybe that was the point.
This is one of 2008 Best films!
