Review of Towelhead (2008) by Frederik V — 13 Feb 2009
Towelhead is tough, tough film. It is disturbing and its pitch black humor will leave many viewers angry and upset. But it holds up a mirror to our society and our views on teenage/female sexuality and race and no one will like what they see.
However, Towelhead never stoops to mawkishness and never bashes you over the head with a PC version of morality. Jasira's choices are never easy and they are never just black or white. Many will feel uncomfortable and downright angry at this film because it presents a horrific side of American thought and offers no easy answers.
