Review of Towelhead (2008) by Nabil J — 17 Feb 2009
Not bad to be the first feature film of Alan Ball as a director, but not as good as we expected to be. The thing is the whole film feels too bit 'exploitative' and somewhat dirty. The subject (sexual awakening of a teen girl) is for sure controversial and because of that is not rightfully taken care of.
Otherwise, the cast is great: Toni Collette, Aaron Eckheart, Maria Bello and the guy from Six Feet Under truly delivers, but is Summer Bishil who really shines as a teen struggling with her own sexuality.
