This movie is somewhat disturbing due to the subject matter. The book is a lot more explicit, but there's no mistake on what's really going on and happening to Jasira in the movie. And because of the disturbing subject matter, you shouldn't avoid this movie.
It's still a good story that works on several levels. It never insults your intelligence but just gives it to you straight.
