Review of Towelhead (2008) by Andrew C — 08 Aug 2009
When the words "SUBVERSIVE, SHOCKING, CONFRONTING" are printed on the DVD cover in bold font, it tends to scream "this isn't a great movie but we're hoping you'll rent it because it's controversial".
Well if you've seen anything by Larry Clark or Todd Solondz you won't get much shock value out of Towelhead, but luckily there is a very solid film behind it all. Mostly due to the complex and interesting characters, and the great performances that bring them to life.
