Review of Tout Va Bien (1972) by Christopher S — 07 Jun 2007
Arguably Godard's most heavy-handed political creation of his career. It acts as an excellent complement to, and maybe even explanation of, his masterpiece "Week-End." In both, we find what makes a Godard great: his use of single shot scenes, sliding horizontally.
In Tout Va B!ien, viewers are taken aback by two in particular: the panoramic view of the factory as the workers stage their revolt, and the scene of the industrial supermarket, full of shoppers, attendants, communists pontificating, and rebellious youths.
