Review of Touch of Evil (1958) by Rene C — 16 Oct 2008
It's no Citizen Kane, but Welles' final directorial effort is a masterpiece of suspense and a web of a story. Welles plays the enormous Quinlan, a rotten cop, and Charlton Heston and Janet Leigh play Mr and Mrs.
Vargas, the couple that tries to bring him down. Every minute of this movie fascinated me, and its a real shame that the studio recut the movie (luckily this version is as close to Welles' vision as possible).
