Review of Touch of Evil (1958) by Ryan H — 14 Nov 2008
Touch of Evil is a great addition to the noir genre of the Classic Hollywood period. It has some nice cameos (Hello Joseph Cotten; we see you; hiding behind that moustache!) and small supporting roles (Marlene Dietrich) all with a fine leading cast; Orson Welles, Janet Leigh and Charlton Heston.
It's a bit slow and dreary in parts but other than that, I found the plot to be solid and the performances great. The music score was also well done.
Anyone else find the car bomb fiasco to be a prime example of a MacGuffin?
