While Citizen Kane may have left the bigger impression on me, it is Welles' Touch of Evil, his noirish crown jewel, that I continue to go back to not only for entertainment sake, but the sheer brilliance of his craft.

The opening tracking shot is the stuff dreams are made of, Janet Leigh's flashlight stalker and subsequent encounter with thugs is downright horrific, and you better believe Charlton Heston pulls off being Mexican.

This review of Touch of Evil (1958) was written by on 12 Feb 2012.

Touch of Evil has generally received very positive reviews.
