Review of Touch of Evil (1958) by Ivan M — 03 May 2012
One of the later film noirs, this Orson Welles picture is a dark and atmospheric crime drama that opens with one of the most impressive tracking shots I have seen in a film. From this first shot, we are thrown into a tale of corruption, conspiracies and betrayal, involving the US and Mexican police forces investigating a car bombing which killed two people right on the border.
This movie boasts chilling performances from an impressive cast including Charlton Heston, Welles and Janet Leigh, haunting off-kilter cinematography and all in all an excellent film.
