Review of Total Recall (1990) by Jacob A — 07 Jun 2011
Unlike most film adaptions of Phillip K. Dick's work(Paycheck, Next), Total Recall can manage the balance between entertainment and raising philosophical questions that were present in the source material. In this case, Arnie storms around Mars, destroying corrupt empires, pulling red, golf ball-sized tracking devices out of his nose, whilest raising questions about reality from time to time. A noble nod to a great author, that can still be an ultra-violent blast of head-banging science fiction.
4 Stars.
